Finding your perfect call for art

EntryThingy aggregates calls for art from galleries, art fairs, grant programs, and other organizations worldwide. Here's how to find the right opportunities for your work.

Browsing Calls

Go to the calls list at app.entrythingy.com/calls. You'll see all currently open calls, updated throughout the day.

You can search by keyword, city, gallery name, or description using the search bar at the top.

Filtering Calls

Use the filters to narrow down what you see:

Medium — Find calls that accept your type of work (painting, ceramics, photography, etc.)
State — Browse calls in a specific U.S. state
City — Filter by major metropolitan areas
Deadline — See calls closing in a specific month
Type — Filter by call type (traditional calls, art fairs, grants, online calls)

Combine multiple filters to zero in on exactly what you're looking for.

Personalized Recommendations

When you're signed in, EntryThingy sorts calls by relevance to you. The algorithm matches calls based on your location, your preferred medium, and your priority states. Calls closing soon also get a small boost so they don't slip by.

The more complete your profile is, the better your recommendations will be. Make sure you've set your medium and city on your profile page, and pick your priority states on your alerts page.

Starring Calls

Found a call you're interested in but not ready to apply yet? Click the star icon on any call to save it. Starred calls appear at the top of your calls list and on your dashboard, so you can easily find them later.

Setting Up Alerts

You can receive email notifications when new calls match your interests:

Go to your alerts page
Set your preferred medium and priority states
Choose how often you'd like to receive recommendation emails

EntryThingy will send you personalized call recommendations based on your preferences so you don't have to check the calls list every day.

Tips for Finding the Right Calls

Start broad, then filter. Browse the full list first to get a sense of what's available, then narrow down with filters.
Check back regularly. New calls are added frequently, and deadlines change.
Read the call details carefully. Each call has its own requirements for medium, image size, entry fees, and eligibility.
Star anything interesting. It's easy to lose track of a call you meant to apply to — starring keeps it front and center.
