My artwork won't upload!
If your artwork upload is failing, stalling, or being rejected, work through these steps to resolve the issue.
1. Check the File Type
Each call sets its own accepted file types (JPEG, PNG, etc.). If you're uploading a format the call doesn't accept, the upload will be rejected. Check the call's requirements on the application page before uploading.
2. Check the File Size
Most calls accept files up to 25 MB. If your file is larger than that, use Pixel Prep to compress it, or export a smaller version from your image editor.
3. Check Image Dimensions
Many calls set a minimum pixel requirement (e.g., "1920px on the longest side"). If your image is too small, the upload will be rejected with a message telling you the minimum. Use Pixel Prep or your image editor to resize the image up to meet the requirement.
For more on this, see It's telling me my image is too small or too large.
4. Try a Different Browser
Chrome and Firefox tend to work most reliably. If you're using Safari or an older browser, switching may help. Make sure your browser is up to date.
You can also try an incognito/private browsing window — this disables browser extensions (like ad blockers) that sometimes interfere with uploads.
5. Clear Your Browser Cache
Old cached data can occasionally cause upload issues. Clear your browser's cache and cookies for EntryThingy, then try again.
6. Check Your Internet Connection
Uploads need a stable connection. If your internet is slow or cutting in and out, the upload may stall or fail. Try: - Moving closer to your Wi-Fi router - Connecting via ethernet cable if possible - Waiting and trying again if your connection is unstable
7. iPhone and iCloud Photos
If you're uploading from an iPhone or iPad, make sure the photo has fully downloaded from iCloud first. When iCloud storage optimization is enabled, your device may only have a low-resolution placeholder — the full image needs to download before you can upload it. Open the photo in your Photos app and wait for it to load fully before trying again.
8. Try Pixel Prep
Pixel Prep can resize and compress your image in one step. It's built into EntryThingy and has presets specifically designed for jury submissions. This often resolves size and dimension issues in one go.
9. Check the Color Space
If your upload completes but the image looks wrong (washed out or discolored), your image may be in CMYK color space. Convert it to RGB / sRGB in your image editor and re-upload.
