What file types can I apply with?
The accepted file types vary from call to call. Each gallery chooses which file types to allow when they set up their call, so the requirements depend on what the organizer has enabled.
Where to See the Requirements
When you start an application, the upload page will show you exactly which file types are accepted for that specific call. You can also find this information on the call's listing page under the submission requirements.
Common File Types
EntryThingy supports the following file types. Galleries choose which ones to enable for each call:
Images: JPG, PNG, GIF Documents: PDF, DOC Audio: MP3 Video: MOV, MP4
Most calls accept JPG and PNG at a minimum, since these are the standard formats for artwork photography.
Tips for Uploading
- iPhone photos (HEIC): If you're uploading directly from an iPhone, EntryThingy will automatically convert HEIC photos to a compatible format. No extra steps needed on your end.
- Image size requirements: Many calls have minimum image dimensions (e.g., 1200px on the longest side). Check the call's requirements before uploading. If your image is too small, see It's telling me my image is too small or too large for help.
- File size limits: Individual files can be up to 20 MB. If your file is too large, try reducing the resolution or compressing it before uploading.
- TIFF files: TIFF is not supported. If you have TIFF images, convert them to JPG or PNG before uploading. Most image editing software (including Preview on Mac) can do this.
Questions About Specific Requirements?
If you have questions about a call's image requirements, dimensions, or accepted formats, reach out to the gallery hosting the call. They set the requirements and can help clarify what they need. You can find their contact information on the call listing page.
